KQH present paper at PMRG 2008
KQH thoroughly enjoyed being asked to speak at the annual PMRG conference.
The paper we gave, entitled EU ban on DTC Advertising: Impact on Patient Awareness & Influence on Prescribing, arose out of the markedly different landscape of Direct to Consumer Advertising in EU when compared to the USA.
Regulatory restrictions in EU are so strict that DTC Advertising has effectively been relegated to disease awareness campaigns, which must be educational and non-promotional in nature.
Our paper looked at whether the ban on DTCA has led us to overlook the fact that patients still can be influenced and have a powerful say in the choice of drugs prescribed to them.
